Pyelonephritis is an infectious disease that affects one of the body’s most vital organs—the kidneys. It can be caused by bacterial infections and often requires medical attention, as it may lead to serious complications if left untreated.

Recently, I was diagnosed with pyelonephritis by doctors, who, of course, prescribed medications for treatment. However, the cost of these medications was extremely high. I could only afford to purchase a two-day supply and took it as prescribed, but I was unable to continue with the full course. Fortunately, a neighbor, knowing about my condition, brought me a natural remedy—homemade propolis butter. She explained how to use it, and I decided to trust her. Remarkably, I can say that today I am completely cured.
My neighbor also taught me how to prepare this remedy, emphasizing its effectiveness and suggesting that I share it with others. I would like to present this recipe to your readers, as it may be useful to someone else struggling with kidney-related illnesses.
Ingredients and Preparation of Propolis Butter
Ingredients:
1 kilogram of unsalted cream butter
150 grams of propolis
Equipment:
Enamelled or heavy-bottomed saucepan
Metal spoon
Knife or grater for chopping propolis
Fine cloth or metal sieve for straining
Glass jar for storage
Preparation Instructions:
Melt the butter in an enamelled saucepan over low heat. Carefully monitor the temperature and wait until it reaches approximately 80°C (176°F).
While waiting, chop or grate the propolis. Propolis is solid in winter and easy to crush, but in summer it can become sticky and difficult to process. During warm seasons, store the propolis in the refrigerator to make chopping easier.
Once the butter has cooled to 80°C, add 150 grams of chopped propolis. Mix thoroughly with a metal spoon to ensure the propolis is evenly distributed.
Cover the saucepan with a lid and let it sit for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. This prevents the propolis from sticking to the bottom and sides of the pan. After 20 minutes, the mixture should resemble a thick, porridge-like consistency.
Heat the mixture gently again until it reaches 80–90°C (176–194°F) and maintain this temperature for 15–20 minutes. To preserve a consistent temperature, remove the saucepan from the heat if necessary, then return it until it stabilizes. The goal is to reach 90°C and then allow the mixture to cool slightly to 80°C.
Strain the finished mixture through a single-layer cheesecloth or a fine metal sieve into a clean glass jar. The final propolis butter should have a yellowish-green color, a characteristic propolis aroma, and a pleasant slightly bitter taste.
After cooling, some propolis particles may settle at the bottom of the jar. This sediment is harmless and can be consumed along with the butter.
Note: If low-quality butter is used, water may accumulate at the bottom of the jar. To prevent this, pierce the butter with a knife or skewer and drain the water. Additionally, this issue can be minimized by skimming the foam from the butter before adding the propolis.
Usage Instructions
For treating pyelonephritis at home, the propolis butter should be taken as follows:
Dosage: 1 teaspoon of propolis butter three times daily, approximately one hour before meals.
Accompanying liquids: It is recommended to drink juice or compote alongside the propolis butter to facilitate absorption.
In addition to propolis butter, you can support kidney health by occasionally consuming herbal decoctions such as:
Corn silk
Sorrel
Bearberry
These natural herbs are known to support urinary tract health, reduce inflammation, and help cleanse the kidneys naturally.
Why Propolis Butter Is Effective for Pyelonephritis
Propolis, a natural resin collected by bees, contains numerous bioactive compounds with antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. When combined with butter, these compounds are released gradually, making them more bioavailable and easier for the body to absorb.
Antimicrobial Action: Propolis can help fight bacteria that cause urinary tract infections, including E. coli, one of the most common pathogens in pyelonephritis.
Anti-inflammatory Effects: By reducing inflammation in the kidneys and urinary tract, propolis butter helps alleviate pain, burning, and discomfort associated with infections.
Support for Immune Function: Propolis stimulates the immune system, enhancing the body’s natural defenses against ongoing or recurring infections.
Gentle Natural Remedy: Unlike antibiotics that can sometimes irritate the stomach or cause side effects, propolis butter is generally well-tolerated when used as directed.
Additional Tips for Home Treatment of Pyelonephritis
Hydration: Drink plenty of water to help flush bacteria from the urinary tract.
Rest: Allow the body to heal by avoiding excessive physical exertion.
Diet: Consume light, easily digestible meals with an emphasis on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid excessive salt, sugar, and processed foods.
Monitoring: Keep track of symptoms. If fever, severe pain, or other complications arise, seek medical attention immediately. Home remedies can complement medical care but should not replace professional treatment in serious cases.
Herbal Support: Periodic use of corn silk, sorrel, or bearberry decoctions may enhance kidney health and improve overall recovery.
Personal Experience and Recommendation
From my personal experience, taking propolis butter as described above provided relief within a few days. I combined it with herbal decoctions and ensured proper hydration. Over time, my kidney function improved, symptoms decreased, and I experienced a full recovery.
Sharing this recipe is important because it offers a natural, affordable alternative for people who may not have access to expensive medications or want to complement their treatment with natural remedies. While professional medical advice is always essential, traditional remedies like propolis butter can play a valuable role in supporting kidney health and overall wellness.
Final Note
Propolis butter is not only effective for pyelonephritis but also has broader health benefits, including:
Boosting immunity
Reducing inflammation
Supporting urinary tract and kidney health
Providing a gentle, natural antimicrobial effect
For anyone considering natural remedies for urinary or kidney infections, propolis butter represents a tried-and-true option that has been used safely for generations. Always ensure correct preparation, proper dosage, and complement its use with a healthy lifestyle to achieve the best results.
Important: Natural remedies are supportive but not a replacement for professional medical care. Always consult a doctor if symptoms are severe, persistent, or worsening.
