At the age of 24, I was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. For me, this diagnosis felt like a death sentence, because my mother had died from the same disease. I was only 19 years old at the time, and I had witnessed with my own eyes how this illness slowly drained her strength and life. The fear, helplessness, and emotional pain I experienced back then are impossible to forget.

When I heard the diagnosis, I lost all desire to live. Tuberculosis, in my mind, meant inevitable death. However, my attending physician calmed me down and reassured me that if I strictly followed all medical instructions, took the prescribed medications regularly, avoided catching colds, did not overwork myself, and maintained proper nutrition, I would be able to overcome the disease and live a long life into old age.
Those words became my lifeline.
Discipline, Treatment, and Patience
For several years, I followed my doctor’s recommendations with absolute discipline. I never skipped medication, carefully avoided exposure to cold, limited physical exhaustion, and paid close attention to my diet. At one point, I even underwent treatment in Abastumani for four months, a place known for its beneficial climate and therapeutic environment.
During that time, my health gradually improved. I gained 10 kilograms, my strength returned, and my body slowly recovered. Five years later, I was officially removed from medical supervision, although I continued to undergo regular medical check-ups to ensure that the disease had not returned.
Today, I am 75 years old, and throughout all these years, tuberculosis has truly never reminded me of itself again. I live an active life and remain deeply grateful for the chance I was given.
A Traditional Mixture Used During Hospital Treatment
While I was hospitalized, I was also taking a traditional mixture, prepared according to an old folk recipe. This remedy was used alongside medical treatment, not as a replacement.
Recipe 1: Egg, Lemon, Aloe, Honey, and Cognac Mixture
To prepare this mixture:
Take a two-liter glass jar and place 10 thoroughly washed eggs inside, with the shells intact.
Peel 10 lemons, remove the seeds, and grind them using a meat grinder.
Pour the crushed lemons into the jar, making sure the eggs are completely covered.
Seal the jar and place it in the refrigerator for two weeks. During this time, the eggshells should dissolve due to the acidity of the lemon juice.
After two weeks:
Take three-year-old aloe leaves, wash them thoroughly, remove the thorns, and grind them through a meat grinder.
Strain the pulp to obtain juice and pour it into the jar containing the egg mixture.
Add 150 grams of honey and 150 grams of cognac.
Let the mixture sit for an additional three days.
Before each use, the mixture should be stirred well, as remnants of the eggshell may settle at the bottom. Take one tablespoon three times a day, before meals. Store the mixture in the refrigerator.
Recipe 2: A Rich Nutritional Remedy
Another traditional recipe used for strengthening the body during serious illness is prepared as follows:
Take 13–14 lemons, peel them, grind them through a meat grinder, and strain the juice.
Wash fresh farm eggs, place them in a glass jar, and pour the lemon juice over them.
Cover the jar and place it in a dark place for 10 days.
When the eggshells dissolve:
Add 1 kilogram of honey (preferably May honey).
Add 1 kilogram of unsalted butter.
Add 1 kilogram of sugar.
Add 0.5 kilograms of unsalted pork fat.
Add 300 grams of cocoa powder.
Add 250 grams of five-star cognac.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly, add a small amount of lemon juice, and place the sealed glass jar in a dark place for 12 days. After this period, the remedy is ready for use.
Take one tablespoon four times a day.
The Role of Nutrition and Strengthening the Body
Both of these mixtures are rich in calories, fats, vitamins, and biologically active substances. In traditional medicine, such remedies were often used to help patients regain strength, improve appetite, and support recovery during long-term illnesses such as tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis is a disease that severely weakens the body. Weight loss, fatigue, and immune suppression are common symptoms. That is why proper nutrition, rest, and emotional stability are essential components of recovery.
A Story of Survival and Hope
This story is not just about illness—it is about discipline, faith, patience, and resilience. Tuberculosis is a serious disease, but with timely diagnosis, proper medical treatment, and strict adherence to medical advice, recovery is possible.
The experience described here demonstrates how important it is to trust qualified medical professionals and follow treatment plans consistently. Traditional remedies, as mentioned, were used as supportive measures, not as substitutes for professional medical care.
