Bay Laurel — A Unique Plant!

Until recently, I thought bay leaves were only useful for treating diabetes, but over time I’ve discovered far more about the unique medicinal properties of this plant and have started using it in practice. Now I want to share my experience with my readers as well.
Bay Leaves for Oral Health:
Bay leaves are excellent for treating stomatitis and gum inflammation. For this purpose, chew fresh bay leaves 2–3 times a day. Their natural compounds help reduce inflammation, fight bacteria, and promote oral healing, making them a simple yet highly effective remedy for maintaining gum health.
Bay Leaf Infusion for Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis:
Bay leaf infusion is commonly used to treat diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. To prepare it, take 30–40 fresh bay leaves and pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over them. Cover and let it steep for one hour. Drink the resulting infusion in 2-tablespoon servings, 3–4 times a day before meals. This infusion helps regulate blood sugar, reduce inflammation in the joints, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Bay Leaf Oil for Sinusitis and Post-Stroke Recovery:
Bay leaf oil is extremely effective in treating sinus infections (such as sinusitis) and can also help with post-stroke complications, including limb weakness and paralysis. You can purchase the oil at a pharmacy, but it can also be prepared at home. Crush 30 grams of fresh bay leaves and pour one cup of oil over them. Place the mixture in a dark area for 15 days and nights, then strain and gently heat the oil to a boil. This oil can be applied thinly to affected areas for therapeutic benefits. Its anti-inflammatory and circulation-promoting properties make it particularly effective in aiding recovery and alleviating lingering symptoms.
Bay Leaves for Tuberculosis:
Bay laurel has been used since ancient times to combat tuberculosis. Its compounds destroy tuberculosis bacteria and stimulate the immune system to fight the disease. Regular use of bay leaves can support lung health and strengthen the body’s natural defenses.
Bay Leaf Foot Soak for Excessive Sweating:
To reduce foot perspiration, place 20–40 bay leaves in a basin, pour hot water over them, and soak your feet for at least 15 minutes before bedtime. The astringent and antibacterial properties of the leaves help control sweat and maintain hygiene naturally.

Transfer the infusion with leaves into a thermos and let it steep for 3–4 hours. Strain and drink small sips throughout the day. Prepare a fresh infusion each day for a 3-day course. The course can be repeated every two weeks. This method has proven effective in protecting against viral infections, as seen in my 20-year-old child who no longer fell ill during winter and spring after following this regimen.
